Chrysler Sebring Rear Window Defogger

Q. Hello Vincent, I have a 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertible that I bought in 2000 and it had 22,000 miles on it. Now, the rear window defogger is not working. When I push to button to activate it, the light comes on but the window does not defog. Could this be a loose wire connection? Does a fuse need to be replaced?

Thank you very much for your assistance.
Best Regards,
Marcia

Chrysler Sebring Rear Window Defogger

A. The action of the top going up and down can loosen wires, pinch them or even pull connections apart. There should be a small connector on the rear window where the wiring connects to the defroster grid. I would perform a visual inspection of the connector to ensure it is tight then follow the wire as far as you can looking and feeling for spots where it may have been pinched or even cut.

Beyond that using a test light unhook the wire from the connector at the window and with the defroster activated check for voltage. If a fuse is blown verifying a lack of or repairing any shorts or breaks in the wiring will prevent it from happening again.
