Ford Mustang Ready To Retire?

Q. Hi sir, My 1995 Ford Mustang GT, 5.0 has 233,000 miles. I just had the 60,000 mile services performed, replaced all the hoses, performed the recall service for the cooling fan and replaced the thermostat. Still, the engine overheats and it spills antifreeze. In fact, I have been smelling the faint aroma of antifreeze for some time.

Could this be due to a communication with the cooling system through the head gaskets? Maybe I should do a rebuild on the engine since it is using one quart of oil every 800 miles. (no black smoke, just going through oil). By the way, I have the original clutch on this manual 5-speed.

Regards,
Ed

A. It does sound like a head gasket that bit the dust. I would have it checked and if it is indeed a blown head gasket, it might be a good idea to have some engine work done.

You must put a lot of highway miles on the car to get so many on the original clutch.
