Pontiac Grand Prix Multiple Failures

Q. Hi! I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. The trip computer, daytime running lights, blower, and rear window defroster are intermittently going out. My understanding is that one fuse is connected with all of these items, but that “intermittent” is not a fuse issue. I can sometimes turn the ignition on and off and on to see if I can get them to work.

Yesterday, it would work as long as the blower was on level 1, but if I turned it to anything else, it all went off. Sometimes when it’s not working and I turn the blower to off, it makes a clicking noise (sounds like it’s coming from below the dashboard right by my knees, below the steering wheel.)

We’ve checked for corrosion on the fuse box under the hood and “wiggled” things in the panel on the passenger side. It worked for about a week after that, but has started up again. Any advise or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Alisa

A. They are having a lot of problems with their ignition switches. Yours may be intermittently bad. A schematic would help greatly in diagnosis to make sure all problem areas are under the control of the same fuse.
