Ford Ranger DTC P1443

Q. My sister has a 1997 Ford Ranger. It has diagnostic code P1443. I know it is an evaporator canister on the fuel tank. My next question is how long are emissions systems warranted by the dealer? If it's not under warranty can a regular garage fix it? She has the four cylinder version.

Thanks,
Mike

Ford Ranger DTC P1443

A. Emissions systems are warranted for five years/50,000 miles.

DTC P1443 indicates an incorrect Evaporative System Purge Control Valve flow. This can be caused by a clogged, disconnected or broken vacuum line between the EVAP Canister Purge valve and the intake manifold as well as a bad EVAP Canister Purge valve itself..

Is the gas cap on correctly?
