Nissan Maxima Gas Fouled Plugs

Q. Vincent, 1995 Nissan Maxima, V-6 engine. Car cranks but will not start. Checked battery, fuel pump, fuses. Found that the three backside spark plugs have gasoline at the thread and tip of spark plug. Could this be the reason for it not starting? Let me know what you think. Appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Alex

Nissan Maxima Gas Fouled Plugs

A. If the spark plugs are gas fouled, then they will not fire and the engine won't start. I would suggest cleaning and regapping the plugs, or just replacing them, and then try to start the car. If it does start then gas fouling was the cause of the no-start condition.

Then the question becomes; why did the plugs get gas fouled? Was it really cold and excess fuel got dumped into the engine? Are the plugs old and worn out? Maybe the distributor cap is cracked and needs to be replaced.
