Another Trip To Saturn

Q. I have a 1996 Saturn SC-2 1.9 liter four cyl. and when I stop or accelerate the engine doesn't want to go right away and it makes a dieseling sound when taking off then after a few seconds it takes right off. The harder I push on the gas the longer it does it.

A. Sounds to me like you have a timing chain that's jumped. I would get it checked as soon as possible to avoid any possible engine damage. Also, if your Saturn vehicle was built before and including VIN TZ320852, there is a new timing chain cover that has to be installed. The new cover has an additional oil hole to direct oil onto the timing chain so it gets lubricated.
