Honda Accord Has Slow Lights

Q. Mr. Ciulla, I have reviewed the majority of your articles regarding Honda Accords and have not seen a question related to mine. I own a 1994 Honda Accord, 2.2 liter 4 cylinder, automatic transmission, 150,000 miles, fuel injection, P/S, A/C and cruise.

Honda Accord Has Slow Lights

In the past year I have been experiencing some electrical problems with my accord. When I start it in cold weather, 40°F or below, the head lamps take several seconds to light after turning them on, the turn signals take several seconds to respond and the wipers will take several seconds to turn on also.

It is apparent that the Honda's have some electrical problems, but I guess I would like to know where to begin searching. All other electrical works great, radio, dome light, tail and brake lights, electric antenna and I have had no problems with starting (knock on wood). Hope you can help me out.

Thanks,
Joe

A. Since the head lights, turn signal lights and windshield wipers are all part of one switch, I would say the switch is at fault here. It could be possible that when it gets cold, the grease used to lubricate the inside contacts gets thick and makes things hang up.
