Nissan Pathfinder PCV Filters

Q. Hi Vincent. I have a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4x4, 27,500 miles and 3.5 liter V-6 engine. I was going through my service guide and noticed that for the 30,000 mile service it said to replace the PCV filter, but only for the 4 cylinder Frontier and Xterra. So if I go by this guide, I never have to replace the PCV filter? That doesn't seem right to me.

It also says to replace the timing belt at 105,000 miles or 84 months, but only on the Frontier V-6, Quest and Xterra V-6. So again I don't have to worry about replacing it? I wanted to get your thoughts on both of these if I could.

Thanks!!
Dave

A. In the V-6 engines, the air for the PCV system is drawn from the air intake duct. Since that air is filtered through the regular air filter, there is no need for a separate PCV filter.

The reason it says to replace the timing belt, and I don't agree with their recommended replacement interval, is the Frontier V-6, Quest and Xterra V-6 have the 3.3 liter V-6 engines and they use timing belts. The 3.5 liter and 2.4 liter engines use timing chains.
