Mitsubishi Galant TCC Problem?

Q. My 1995 Mitsubishi Galant S car with automatic transmission vibrates at slow speeds and when in idle. I took it to the dealer for a diagnostic and they claimed it was the torque converter locking up and to replace it would cost $1,400.00.

Do you think this is the cause? I don't believe it would make sense to fix it if this is what its going to cost me. Any help on this problem is appreciated.

Thanks,
William

Mitsubishi Galant TCC Problem?

A. When a Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid is stuck, it would cause the torque converter clutch to remain engaged. So when you came to a stop, the car would shudder and stall. If the car is vibrating, and not stalling, I would think looking for another cause is a good idea. I think this is more of an engine performance problem than a transmission problem.
