Sentra Winking Out

Q. My girlfriend's 1997 Nissan Sentra has had some battery issues lately. I found out that it was just the factory battery cable ends were pieces of junk, so I bought some little cheap universal ends from Autozone. It seems to have completely fixed the problem, but last night she was driving and all of the lights shut off for a second and then came back on.

It did this twice she said and was fine for the rest of her drive. I was just wondering if it had something to do with the battery cable ends. On the positive side there is an extra cable that goes somewhere not sure where. I had to modify it to fit on the universal end, do you think this cable could be a problem?

Thanks,
Chris

A. If you are using the universal terminal ends I think you are, it's possible there is a contact problem where the cable goes into the terminal. Another thing is sometimes the cables are a tad too short and some guys try to stretch out the cables to fit. This sometimes causes a problem.

That other, smaller, cable goes to the fusible link and fuse link box. If it was just the lights that went out, then the problem could be with this cable.
