Honda Accord A/C Drain Hose Clogged

Q. Dear Vincent: I have a 1996 Honda Accord; 100,060 miles; and A/C. There is clear water dripping from under the dashboard, from the A/C unit area, inside the car. I also see a lot of condensation at the bottom of the A/C unit inside the car. Please tell me where you think the water is coming from?

Honda Accord A/C Drain Hose Clogged

Isn't there suppose to be a drainage hose that displaces this water outside the car?

Thanks for your help.

A. Yes, there is indeed a drain hose. And it is not uncommon for them to get clogged causing water to fill the evaporator case and run inside the car.

Honda Accord A/C Drain Hose Clogged

If you get under the car and look at the bottom of the firewall, you will see the drain hose coming out through the firewall and down.

Get a piece of wire about six inches long and stick it inside the hose. Move it around until the hose is clear and water runs out.

This water is condensation from the air conditioner and is quite normal.
