Jeep Wrangler Flashing 36 Q. Vincent, My 1995 Jeep Wrangler sat for a month while I worked on the transfer case. Now the check engine light comes on and the engine dies at idle. The diagnostic code is 36. The book I have does not show a 36. Is there some connection with this and the transfer case repair?

I have checked the code three times and it keeps flashing 36. Also when I am in fifth gear my shift light comes on. Please help.

A. I don't know what to tell you Mark. I don't list a code 36 in for that car so I can't tell you, for sure, if it's related or not.

I suggest having a scan tool hooked up and see if you can get a P code out of it. That might tell us better what to look for.
