Suzuki Swift Shudders
Q. How are you going mate??? I own a 1984 Suzuki Swift 1.3 liter, 4 cylinder, carburetor, about 300,000km mileage. However only just reconditioned engine, manual transmission. The problem I am having is that while I am driving, the car seems to shudder. The shudder isn't light either, it is strong enough to make the whole car shudder.
I have taken it to Suzisport Cairns (Suzuki specialist) and they said that the rack end was worn and needed to be replaced, so I replaced it. However once I did, I took it for another drive and the problem is still there.
I took it back to them and they said that the wheel bearings where worn, so I replaced them, and the problem is still there. And I took it back to them again, and they said that all they can do is start putting all new parts in the car until the problem is fixed, and I think that is really unprofessional.
We know it isn't the CV's, but some people have suggested that it might be the clutch, that I needed to install a totally new clutch kit into my car, and another guy said that it might be the bearing in the gearbox!!!
It seems to me that all they are doing is taking shots into the dark, and I think it is pathetic. If you could shine some light onto my problem I would be greatly appreciative.
Thank you very much,
ChrisA. We didn't start getting Suzuki's here in the USA until 1986 and the Suzuki Swift didn't make it here until 1989.
I don't see where anyone checked the tires on your car. The first thing I would do with a car that displays these symptoms is to rotate and balance all four tires. This will either confirm or deny the tires as a possible cause. And in your case I feel you will find a bad tire.
