RX-7 No Start
Q. I am using my friends computer right now. My friend has a 1988 RX-7. We are in the USMC and just returned from a 7 month deployment in Japan. He left his car with a friend and now that he has it back it doesn't work. The car turns over but won't start. I am assuming that the problem has to do with the fuel.
He bought a Chilton and it is no help with troubleshooting the car. If you can find an answer for me I would greatly appreciate it. Oh, the engine is a 13B rotary if that is any help, but you probably already knew that.
Thank you again,
BrooksA. I would remove the air filter and shoot some carburetor cleaner into the intake while it is cranking. If it starts, then you know, definitely, it is a fuel problem. If not, then it is in the ignition.
If it does start, then the next thing to check would be the fuel pump circuit. Start with the fuse and then check for power at the pump. Or just listen to hear the fuel pump running. If it is running the next thing to check would be fuel pressure. It should be between 64-85 psi. If the fuel system checks out good, then the problem could be a bad ECU.
