Grand Am Engine Swap?

Q. Vince- I've been looking all over for info on swapping a 2.5 for a 3.4 in a 1991 Grand Am with auto. I'm pretty familiar with this sort of thing in rear-wheel drives, but know nothing about front-wheel drives. Nobody on any forum even answers my posts. Do you know of anybody that has a site or offers books for this sort of thing?

Thanks for any help you can give,
Steve

A. Generally engine swaps are same engine to same engine or same engine to a larger engine that particular car came equipped with. In other words if a car comes from the factory with a 307, 327 or 350 any of these engines can be used in that car.

A 1991 Pontiac Grand Am did not come with a 3.4 liter engine although the 1992 model came with a 3.3 liter engine.

As it stands now it looks like putting a 3.4 in your car will be a custom installation and you'll have to play it by ear as you go along. Since the 3.3 and 3.4 and the 1991 and 1992 models are similar it may work.

If you can find a 1992 Grand Am with the 3.3 you can look at, it might give you an idea what you are up against.
