Honda A/C Problem

Q. I have a 1995 Honda Accord EX V-6 164,000 miles. My air conditioning is acting up. When I first start the car it will work fine then it would stop for 15 minutes and then come back on. I replaced the temperature switch on the hot end and I still have the problem.

I was told then that it could be the thermostat sensor on the evaporator. Or I can have a leak in the line. Any suggestions?

A. To accurately diagnose an A/C problem, you first need to put a set of A/C gauges on the system and make sure there is the proper amount of refrigerant in the system. Most problems with the A/C system can be traced to low refrigerant levels.

So my advice is to have the refrigerant checked and make sure it is up and there are no leaks in the system. Once that is determined, and you still have a problem, then we can look for an electrical problem.
