Chevy Tahoe Is Taking On Water

Q. 1998 Chevy Tahoe with 123,000 miles. Problem: When running the A/C cold water drips onto the floor mat, passenger side, from the black box under the dash and around the area where the box meets the fire wall. This is a large enough amount of water to soak the carpet, and run out when the door is finally opened, after 100 miles, 4 people in the vehicle, running the A/C.

Question: Is there an evaporator drain tube somewhere that is clogged that I can maintenance myself?

Thank you very much for any help you can give me,
David

A. There should be a drain tube on the passenger side of the firewall down below where the heater hoses go through. There should be a rubber elbow or tube that can be removed and a piece of coat hanger put into the tube to clear it out.

Don't push too hard or you may puncture the evaporator. This tube is on the under hood side of the firewall.
