Convertible Top Replacement

Q. Hi, I have a 1994 mustang GT convertible. The top that is on it now is ripped and just makes the car look bad. I have found in "Mustangs and Fast Fords" magazine tops with the rear defroster glass for only $200. The one on it now has the rear defroster glass.

I was wondering how hard it would be to put the top on myself, what tools I would need, and if you know any sites or books that have good instructions? I am very good at working on my car but I need to now the steps in doing this. Please Help.

Chad

A. Supercar.com has a good set of instructions on how to replace a convertible top. You can read it over and get an idea with what's involved.

Replacing a convertible top requires special techniques. I have never replaced one myself, I always sent it to a top shop. Personally, I would recommend taking it to a shop that specializes in top replacement to be sure the job is done right. But, if after reading the instructions, you feel up to the job, go for it.
