Oldsmobile Alero Loose Gas Cap Code?? Q. I have a Service Engine Soon light on solid and the diagnostics says its a very small vacuum leak. We think the problem may have been a loose gas cap. If we disconnect the battery for 30 minutes will it clear the Service Engine Soon light? If it wasn't the gas cap it should return correct? 2001 Oldsmobile Alero 3.4 liter fuel injected V-6 Automatic transmission 56,000 miles ABS P/S, A/C, Cruise control

A. Just drive the car. If the gas cap was loose, the light will go out on it's own after running the test for that code a couple of times. Or have Autozone clear it. Removing the battery cable often does not clear codes but clears memory in other modules which can cause other problems.
