Mustang Tires And Wheels
Q. Hi Vince, I recently purchased a 2001 Mustang GT. It came with the factory, low-profile tires on the 17 inch wheels. They're lovely - but its winter in Alberta, where I'm writing from. I had been advised before I bought the car that I would be able to buy cheap rims and snow tires to get me through the winter.
But now all tire shops are quoting at least $1600.00 (CDN) for a set of wheels and tires. I don't care what the rims look like, and have been trying to find some cheap ones, but haven't had luck finding anything that will go around the disc brakes. I'm also presuming that I'll have to go down to at least 16 inches, if not 15 inches to give sufficient clearance with snow tires on.
Do you have any ideas on what I could use that would fit, short of the expensive rims?
Thanks,
LisaA. Lisa, the best thing to do is post this question in my Forum. There is a wheel and tire expert there who will be able to answer your question far better than I can. It is what he does for a living and he is extremely knowledgable.
