GMC Sierra 2500 ABS And BRAKE Lights
Q. Dear Vincent, I have a 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4 with approximately 43,000 miles on it. I am having trouble with my ABS and BRAKE indicator light staying on. I bought the truck used in 2002 from a dealer. The original owner was a rental company. After a year of owning it, the ABS light came on and was told that I would have to replace the ABS modulator. I did.
The light came on again about two months ago. It went out, but has just come back on. My questions are:
- Do you know of any recalls on the ABS for this truck?
- Do you know of others with the same problem?
- If so, what have they done to correct it and make it disappear forever?
I appreciate your time.
Sincerely,
Marty
Arroyo Grande, CAA. A Dealer will be able to run your VIN number through and see if any recalls are open on this truck. There may also be a few Technical Service Bulletins out on ABS problems. TSBs are not recalls but known failures in the systems. It could be a speed sensor issue. Haven't seen many repeat failures of the ABS module or EBCM.
