GMC Safari Worse Than Before Repairs

Q. Dear Mr. Ciulla, I own a 1993 GMC Safari XLT van, with a 4.6 litre V-6, automatic transmission, throttle body injection, cruise control and A/C with 174,000 miles. I had a short which caused an overnight drainage of the battery, so I had a mobile repair outfit out to fix the problem. Well, it turned out that the short was caused by the power door lock switches and bad relay.

Once the problem was fixed, my vehicles speedometer no longer works, the ABS light remains on and the transmission does not shift (stays in one gear), so the vehicle still remains in the driveway. However, prior to the service tech locating and fixing the short, the van ran excellent. What is your opinion of the problem. Thanks for your HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely,
Dennis

A. Sounds like they left a fuse out or one blew while they were testing it out. All the problems may be related to one circuit not getting power. Check all fuses first. Then give them a call back.
