1979 Cadillac Seville Diesel

Q. My 1979 Cadillac Seville, 108,000 miles with a 1982 Olds Target Diesel engine 60,000 miles won't start. When I turn the key the red "wait" light goes on but the green "start" light (which is supposed to come on once the glow plugs have heated) doesn't. If I turn the key further (without waiting for the start light, which as stated does not come on), the engine turns over, but doesnt start.

What might the problem be? Looked at various books in the library, they have a flow chart which begins with "check the 5 amp diesel fuse," but there is no 5 amp diesel fuse located in the regular fuse box, must be somewhere else, but where? I can't presently afford a mechanic, leave alone an electrical specialist, so would greatly appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance
Robert

A. I thought all of those dinosaurs died millions of years ago. I don't think there was a GM Tech who ever had anything good to say about hose engines. I do remember what we used to say at the Oldsmoble dealer I worked at. "Change the oil every 3,000 miles and change the engine every 30,000 miles." You see, they weren't diesel engines. They were gas engines buring diesel fuel.

It's been a long time, but I think there is a Electrical Accessory Panel located on the right side of the dash. I would check all the fuses in that box.
