Buick LeSabre Cuts Out And Dies

Q. I have a 1989 Buick LeSabre limited with a 3800 in it. Electric windows, power door locks, A/C. Problem: running rough like not getting fuel, stalls, and they cannot get the diagnostic machine to talk to the computer said maybe an electrical short and no guarantee that after another $150.00 and two hours they would find an answer for me.

A friend suggested the computer and replacing it and going to wrecking yard and finding one. Don't know if I gave you enough or not. I hope so. Can you give me any suggestions? I am a single Mom struggling to make it and I know quite a bit about cars but the electrical stuff gets to me. I truly need help in the worst way. I do not have hundreds of dollars for diagnostics.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
Darlene

A. I know you don't want to hear my answer, but I would head straight for a Buick dealer. I think you would be surprised how quickly they could fix it. Most dealers will stand behind their diagnosis meaning if they tell you it needs a part and that part doesn't fix it, they will stay with the job until it's fixed for the price quoted. You will need to discuss this with the dealer though. Some good techs can duplicate the problem one time and know exactly what's wrong. A private garage just doesn't have the info unless they have an ex-dealer tech.
