Pontiac Sunbird Has Gas In The Oil

Q. Hello Vincent. I've got a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird convertible with a 3.1 MPFI V-6. with approximately 142,000 miles. There is gas in the oil and bluish tinted white smoke coming from the exhaust that has a strong smell of gasoline. Also there's a small amount of blow-by that looks like its coming from my front head and misting onto my electric cooling fan.

Pontiac Sunbird Has Gas In The Oil

When I replaced my plugs and wires along with the O2 sensor I noticed my #4 cylinder plug was fouled or not burning at all! Plug and wire replacement along with the O2 sensor didn't fix my problem. Any suggestions on the best way to go on repairs as far as long term and cheapest way to repair my engine would be appreciated.

James

A. If it's flooding out #4 cylinder, you may have a bad injector. You could pull the plug and cycle the ignition on and off to see if fuel comes running out of plug hole. JUST DON'T CRANK IT or BOOM! The spark will jump and ignite the fuel!! Also may be the fuel pressure regulator but that should be flooding all cylinders. You would need to remove the plenum to access the injectors and fuel rail. Also change the oil after repairs.
