Chevrolet Corvette Temperature Gauge

Q. Vincent, I just installed electric radiator fans on my 1975 Chevrolet Corvette. One has a relay tied to the water temperature sending unit and the other has a remote control tied to the water temperature sending unit. Everything was fine for two days, then the water temperature gauge quit. I would like to determine if the gauge is bad or the sending unit is bad. How should I go about this?

Thank you in advance,
Patrick

A. Sending units work by changing resistance inside them. If you put an ohmmeter on the sender and start it up, watch for the ohms to start changing. Most gauges will go over the red when unplugged and to zero when grounded. This should help you.
