Mustang Electrical Problems

Q. Hello, my friend has an 1989 Mustang GT 5.0 convertible and we're having a few problems. First, the fuse slot which works the backup lights, top, and turn signal lights keeps blowing fuses as soon as we turn the key to the start or on position. It calls for a 15 amp fuse but when we put a higher one in it doesn't blow as fast.

Second, the third brake light won't light up. We changed the bulbs but it still won't work. Lastly, the fuel pump won't turn on. I think it's the fuel relay but how do you check to see if its really bad?

Thanks,
King and Matt

A. You have some serious electrical problems here. They may or may not be all related to each other. What it sounds like to me is that a harness going to the rear of the car has been damaged. There's too many things go wrong at the same time to be a coincidence.
