Mustang Only Has Defrost
Q. 1995 Ford Mustang, 6 cylinder. Have cold A/C coming out of the defroster vents. Just started with no prior warning. Daughter's car and keeping fingers crossed what could be problem. ($)! Any hints on where to start first?
Thanks,
JohnA. You probably lost vacuum to the heater control panel. Look under the hood and you will see a vacuum distribution block. This is where the heater control panel gets its vacuum from. You'll also see a black vacuum tank. Trace the lines from the tank back to the block and make sure they are in good shape and connected tightly.
Now trace the line to the check valve. The tank connects on one side and the other side goes to the heater panel inside the car. Trace it to the firewall and make sure there are no breaks and it is tightly connected. If all the lines are good and not leaking, then the problem is most likely in the heater control panel itself.
If you have the electronic heater control, the problem in probably the control panel itself.
