Plymouth Laser DTCs 26 And 27???

Q. Vincent Ciulla, I really enjoy my 1991 Plymouth Laser RS 2.0 liter with a manual transmission, P/S, A/C and Cruise control with 120,000 miles. I think something was tampered with by a repair shop, The first problem, before car would accelerates through the red line but after the repair it flatten out at around 5,500 RPMs.

Plymouth Laser DTCs 26 And 27???

The self diagnostics blinks out codes that do not appear in the shop manual, 26 and 27.

The car was put on a diagnostic machine, by a different shop, and I was told it was the oxygen sensor, it was replaced and didn't change a thing.

I was driving along the other day and heard a large number of clicks from the relays, under the dashboard on the passenger side, and the car stopped running completely.

Any help in this matter would appreciated...

A. There are so many different things that can create a no start situation. The first thing to do is to narrow it down to either a fuel problem or ignition problem.

If you spray carburetor cleaner into the intake as the engine is cranking, and it starts, you have a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't, pull a spark plug wire and check for spark. No spark indicates an ignition system problem. Once we know which is missing, we can troubleshoot the problem more efficiently.

If you don't have either spark or fuel, then you probably have a bad Main Control Relay. The Main Control Relay is mounted in front of the center console.

When a PCM outputs codes that do not exist, that usually is a sign of a bad PCM.
