Stuttering S-10

Q. Hi, I have a 1995 Chevy S-10 pickup, 2 wheel drive. It has a 2.2 liter 4cylinder engine with a manual transmission. Recently I've had problems when shifting. Immediately after shifting, the truck stutters for a couple seconds. After the RPMs even out, it is fine.

It mainly happens when going up hills when I have to give it more gas. I've replaced the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, and wires. I've taken it to 2 local shops and they can't seem to find the problem. They've tested the spark plugs and coil packs, those were fine. Please let me know if there is anything that we are missing, or anything else I could do to remedy this problem.

Thank You,
Marty

A. Sounds like a electrical misfire to me. You could confirm this by getting a spray bottle with some salt and water in it. Lightly mist over the plug area first and drive it to see if it gets worse or happens all the time. If not spray the rest of the wires all the way to the coils. I'm sure it will act up and if you open the hood at night you may even see where the spark is jumping from/to.
