Jeep Power Windows

Q. Hi Vincent, 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4. I have a problem with the power windows that happen from time to time. It does not matter what the weather is like or if the engine is cold/warm but at times the windows will not operate.

When one window works, they all work, and if one window doesn't work I can not even open the window if I lean over to the passenger side door and try to open from that door. After a certain time the windows work properly again. I replaced the power window fuse which did not fix the problem. I am at a complete loss, since I don't think it's the switches since they work sometimes, and then they don't.

Thank you for your time,
Mark

A. I would look at the harness where it goes from the body into the drivers door. It is covered with a rubber tube and you'll have to cut into it to see the wires. Very often the wires inside there break due to constant flexing. If there are broken wires there, they are easy enough to repair. Just be sure to solder the wires and use some heat shrink around the connections.
