Ford Aerostar Has No Starter Power

Q. Vincent, Can you help me out again? My wife's 1991 Ford Aerostar, 2WD and automatic transmission, has a problem with the starting circuit. I can energize relay behind battery to crank engine but Ignition switch will not energize relay. I replaced ignition switch but it still doesn't work. I checked neutral switch but it does not get any power from the ignition switch.

Ford Aerostar Has No Starter Power

I can short power through wiring from neutral switch to make it crank. I bought a Chilton's book but all the wire colors are incorrect (they don't match existing wires on switch or neutral TPS switch) and it doesn't show pin numbers on connectors or switches.

I suspect a problem with the starter wire from the ignition switch to the neutral, or Transmission Position Switch (TPS), but without color codes for the wires or pin outs for the switches it seems to be impossible to figure out witch wire goes where. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

A. Sounds like you got the problem figured out and just need a good wiring diagram to finish. Well alrighty then, here it is.
