Solex Carburetor

Q. Vincent, I am in the process of rebuilding a Solex 34PICT-3 and pulled all the jets, volume control and bypass screws for a good cleaning. Unfortunately, I unscrewed the Bypass screw without checking on how far out it was (from a lightly seated position in the body). Is there a "suggested" number of turns out from the seated position?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Cary

A. Solex carburetors can be a pain to rebuild. I have never rebuilt one and got it right the first time.

I usually use 2.5 turns for the air bypass and mixture screws as a starting point when I rebuild them. This is close enough to get the engine started and allow me to adjust the air bypass and fuel mixture.
