Buick LeSabre Losing Cylinders

Q. To Whom It May Concern "Thanks For Your Help" I have a 1994 Buick LeSabre with a 6-V engine. I am experiencing an intermittent low power problem. When it occurs the car will shake violently (when under load) as if the fuel to the engine was shut off or that two cylinders were suddenly cut out. When the car is not under load the violent shaking is reduced by the engine still some what shutters.

 Buick LeSabre Losing Cylinders

As stated prior the problem is intermittent it comes and goes. A local mechanic once drove the car for a week and the problem never occurred. Last week while pulling a trailer up north at 70 miles an hour with the cruise on, the car began shaking violently and losing speed, down to 50 miles an hour. After pulling my foot off the throttle and than reapplying the throttle the engine returned to normal. Than a few miles down the road the problem started back up again.

It did this maybe 20 times during my trip up and back. The local car repair replaced the wiring however this did not help. It would appear that the problem could be electrical (circuit board) or an intermittent emission failure or fuel pump. Your help or suggestions would sure be appreciated. No codes are logged.

A. Sounds like you may be loosing two cylinders. Very possibly a bad ignition coil pack or ignition module. Try lightly spraying some water around the ignition system with a spritzer bottle. If there is any spark leaking out of a coil, this will make it do it more so you can find it.
