Dodge Caravan A/C Doesn't Work
Q. Mr. Ciulla, I have a 1990 Dodge Grand Caravan with the 3.3 liter V-6. I installed a retrofit kit to convert the A/C to R-134a. I vacuumed the system back down. The A/C system hold 34 ounces. I put 32 ounces in the system. The cans that came with the retrofit kit contained freon, leak sealer, oil, and O ring conditioner.
After putting both cans in the system the compressor would not come on. I checked the fuse, connections. I turned the clutch with my hand and it moves. Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks,
DaylonA. Unplug the connector for the A/C Low Pressure Switch and jump the two terminals in the connector. The A/C compressor should kick on. If it does, there is something wrong in the A/C system. Probably not enough refigerant or too much oil.

If it doesn't kick on, then there is a problem in the electrical system. In that case I would check the A/C relay. The A/C relay is in the relay rack next to the battery, fourth relay back.
