Ford Windstar Taking On Water

Q. I have a 1996 Ford Windstar, 3.8 litre engine, A/C and automatic transmission. Within about the last six months to a year, water has been accumulating under the passenger side floor mat. It seems to be coming from wrapped tube going through the fire wall. I think this is the drain for A/C but not sure. Could this be caused by partially blocked drain?

Ford Windstar Taking On Water

I see water dripping from this tube in engine compartment when I have the A/C on. Any help you could offer me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Wayne

A. It is possible that the insulation wrap around the tube is letting air get to the tube. If it does, it will cause it to sweat. You will have to look for a tear or a loose wrap. It is also possible that the tube has a hole in it.

It is also possible for water to be leaking from the condenser and the hole the tube passes through is not sealed. If the tube is blocked, the only way it could leak in the car, is if it backs up and then it finds a hole to leak out of. This is the most unlikely of the four possibilities.
