VIN And Engine Numbers

Q. HI! What a wonderful service you provide. Maybe you can answer my question. I would like to know where I might locate the serial number on the motor of a 1995 (1995 and a half actually) Isuzu Rodeo. Also, will that number be the same as the VIN number if it is the original factory engine?

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.
Karen

A. Okay Karen, the eighth digit of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is the engine code. In this case if the eighth digit is a V it is a 6VD1 3.2 liter V-6. If it is an E it is a 4ZE1 2.6 liter 4 cylinder.

The Engine serial number is stamped on the rear end raised area of the Cylinder Block left side. The VIN and engine number are two different numbers and do not relate to each other.
