Dodge Caravan No Crank, No Start

Q. My problem is with the transmission I believe. I have a whinning noise that happens when you push on the accelerator, and it doesn't seem like its shifting when you are going down the road. It also makes this noise in park just accelerating.

Thank you in advance!

Dodge Caravan No Crank, No Start

The other problem is it is having a hard time starting. We replaced the relay switch and that helped for awhile. Then the problem starts all over. Its like a dead battery. The battery is new. You have to keep turning the key off and on to get it to start. This can be one time or several. It seems to help when you pull the relay switch out and plug it back in.

Any advice will be worth it. We are trying to decide whether to fix the problem or just junk the van.

A. I just wrote an article that covers just this condition. Diagnosing A No Start Situation

As for the transmission, I would have to drive the vehicle to properly identify the noise and feel the shifts for myself. It may or may not be a transmission problem.
