Chevy S-10 Blazer Hard Starting

Q. Vincent, Here's my problem: My 4WD 1995 Chevy S-10 Blazer 4.3 liter V-6 and automatic (74,000 miles) starts hard, smells of raw gas and gets 12.3 mpg around town. Also idles rough and sometimes dies when I turn on the air conditioning. The check engine light came on recently and the dealer analysis said the EGR valve was stuck.

They fixed that and the idle improved somewhat but it's still hard to start. No check engine light is currently on.

Hope you can help.
Ron

A. You need to have the fuel pressure checked. It's probably leaking down when you shut it off and flooding the engine. The root cause is most likely a bad/leaking fuel pressure regulator that is part of the "Central Point Injector". This part is about $450.00.
