Ford Contour Has No Power

Q. I have a 1995 Ford Contour, 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine with 78,430 miles on it that I just bought. I don't know if I have a problem w/the transmission or what. Here is my problem: When the car is warmed up, it drives like it isn't getting any power or any gas. If you are at a stop and put your foot on the gas pedal to go, it starts to go real slow, you have to put your foot to the floor to get it going.

Ford Contour Has No Power

Is the fuel injector clogged or is it the O2 sensor going out. Any help would be appreciated in answering this question. I don't know if this car had any other problems before I bought it. I don't even know when the car was serviced last because there was no records in the car at all.

Thank you,
Candice

A. Since the service history is not available I would suggest a complete tune-up. I would replace the spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, ignition wires, PCV valve and air and fuel filters.

Simply doing this could very well fix the problem.

A timing belt would be a good idea too. If it broke it would not do any engine damage, but Murphys Law states it will break 100 miles from home in the middle of a hurricane on a Saturday night when you are all dressed up to go to a party.
