Honda Civic Model Variations

Q. I am looking at buying a 1990 Honda Civic 4 door sedan and what is the difference between the LX, DX, Si, Se, EX models of Honda. I person said that I could try to fix it up before I buy it and if can't fix I don't have to buy it. Anyway is parts from a junk yard good because aren't they cheaper?

Honda Civic Model Variations

Is it possible to have two gas tanks in the car and make it a two tanker or is there not enough room? Make it so that you flip a switch to change tanks or something!

Thanks,
Tony

A. The main difference in the LX, DX, Si, Se, EX models is the engines. For example, in this year Honda Civic the Si has a 1.6 liter engine and the DX has a 1.5 liter SOHC engine and TBI. The HF has a 1.5 liter SOHC engine and MFI.

The other differences are involve trim and equipment levels such as having a tachometer and other items or not.

Buying junk yards parts are a good alternative to buying new or rebuilt parts. The only draw back is they come with a short warranty and you never know how hong the part will last. My experience with using junk yard parts has generally been good.

I would not even consider adding a second fuel tank, even if there was room. Gas tanks are located in positions where they are protected in case of a collision. If you added a second gas tank and were in an accident that caused it to rupture and catch fire, and someone was killed, you could be held criminally responsible.
