Jeep Cherokee Got Diesel, Not Gas
Q. Hi Vincent, I have a 1986 Jeep Cherokee with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder throttle body injection. It has 194,000 miles but still run great. Manual transmission. To make a long story short the gas station I go to had diesel put in their gas tanks and I got the tainted fuel. I changed out the fuel filter, and ran three or four tanks of regular gas though it but it still runs very rough and stalls out.
It takes quite awhile to start in the morning after starting and at low speeds it will buck and jump. On the highway at 65-75 mph it seems to run fine. Wondering if the fuel injector could have gotten messed up? Anyway to check it? Not sure what else to do. Any suggestions in this matter will greatly help.
Thank you for your time,
EdA. I would pull the spark plugs and take a look at them. It's possible that one or more may be fouled out. The diesel shouldn't have any adverse effects on the fuel pump and injectors, but I wouldn't completely rule them out.
