Pontiac Grand Am Engine Swap

Q. Here's what I got: (I don't have enough money to buy a new car or a decent used one)

1993 Pontiac Grand Am
3.3 liter V-6 Engine
3T40-E Transaxle
Tons of miles
Power everything except seats

Pontiac Grand Am Engine Swap

1. Is it possible to exchange the 3.3 Liter motor with a 3.8 Liter motor from the same series? It is my understanding that it's the same block (or is it?). If so, how much of the electronics would I have to change? The sensors seem to be all the same. Would I have to change to the 4-speed transmission?

2. If not, would it be possible to change the 3-speed transmission in my car with the 4-speed in a Cutlass Ciera (same motor)? I figure they would have put a 4-speed in the Grand Am, unless something prevented it.

Any insight to these questions would be appreciated (I can afford a 3.8liter motor, not the car with it though.)

Thank you...

A. If you have both cars, maybe swapping the whole drivetrain would work, cradle and all.
