Shiftless Chevy Beretta

Q. Hello, I have a 1994 Chevy Beretta Z-26 with the 3.1 V-6 and the 4T60E transmission. I have a very weird problem with the transmission. The transmission will not shift to third or OD after I have driven it in town or left the car running. But it will shift perfect again after shutting the car off and restarting it. Does it every time.

I've tried just stopping the car and taking off but still doesn't shift. Only if I shut the car off and restart it. Is there something electrical that's causing this? It runs at 2,500 rpm at 60 when it isn't shifting and around 1,750 rpm at 60 when it does shift. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Rod

A. Try checking for any codes in the transmission control module. You may have something going on and setting a code which can default to a no shift condition. Any codes set should be addressed.
