Oldsmobile Cutlass Blowing Fuses
Q. Hi Vincent, My name is Baha and I'm driving Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 1994. I have two problems, first is the starting fuse, where it burns out once I start the car and stops the fuel pump. I change it every day to let the car start and some times two or three times a day. Originally, it's 20A and I am using 25A and still getting the same problem.
Second, is the RPM that's starts to be high all the way, even if I drive the car for three continuous hours, it remains high, over 1,000 rpm. Please, help.
A. Well Baha, that fuse problem sounds pretty serious. There most likely is a short in that circuit. If it's only the fuse for the fuel pump, I would start looking at the wires from the relay all the way back to the pump for a short to ground.
As for the high rpm's, you may have a vacuum leak or a sticking idle air control valve. A scanner hooked up would be of great service to fix these problems.
