Chrysler Mitsubishi Engine Swap Q. I was wondering if there was any other engine that will fit in a 1998 Plymouth Neon other than a Chrysler Engine? I have heard that Mitsubishi Eclipse engines will drop right in. Is that true? What I have now is a SOHC 3 speed automatic. Will an Eclipse engine/transmission/ECU drop right in with a little amount of modifications, or will it take a lot? I'm looking at putting a DOHC in to take the SOHC's place, and get rid of the Chrysler engine. Thanks for your help in this. Andy

A. Why don't you just drop a Chrysler 2.0 liter DOHC engine? It will drop right in with very few problems. You'll need to replace the ECU and wiring harness, but you would have to do that with the Mitsubishi engine anyway.
