Q. I am working on a 1992 Ford E-150 Van 5.0 engine, automatic transmission, 120,000 miles, fuel injected, Engine Code 412. What is the possible problem and how do I fix it?

A. A code 412 on that engine is "Idle speed system not controlling idle properly (generally idle too low)" which means, basically, the Idle Speed Control system is not working correctly. The most likely problem is the ISC motor itself.
