No Tercel Headlights

Q. I have a 1991 Toyota Tercel 176,000 miles. Turn on lights there's nothing. All fuses OK, headlight switch operates turn signals, dash lights and headlights, also flashes high beams for passing. All functions work except headlights!! Please HELP! Also, Is there a headlight relay? If so where can it be found, I have checked the location per dealer and it's not there? One parts store says 1991 doesn't use a relay? A 12-volt test light shows current at each headlight post, with key on or off?

George

A. You found the problem. If you have 12 volts at the headlights, you need new headlight bulbs. I have been confused as to why headlights were not working until I learned to accept the fact that it is possible for both headlights to be burned out. Unplug one of the headlights and plug it into a new headlight and I'll bet it lights up. If, by some chance it doesn't. then check the ground wire and make sure it is connected, clean and tight.
