Ford Escort Blower Motor

Q. I have a 1997 Ford Escort sedan. I believe it's a 2.0 liter engine with A/C. I thought I came across an easy problem when I turned the fan on in the car. It hummed like something was caught in it and then it seemed to stop. I figured I blew the fuse or the object completely blocked the vent because the fan stopped working.

When I try to turn the fan on it makes my radio buzz. There was no fuse labeled for the fan and I can't seem to get to the blower motor. I think it's by the windshield wipers. Do you know where it's fuse is? I checked the 5, 10, 15 and 20 amp fuses that I could find in the interior or do you suppose the fan died completely?

Thanks for your help,
Toledo, Ohio

A. The blower motor doesn't have a fuse, it has a 30 amp circuit breaker. In the diagram below it is number 12 in the instrument panel fuse box.

I don't believe it is a power problem however. it sounds like more os a bad blower motor or something stuck in the blower motor fan blades.

Taking the blower motor out is easy. It is under the dash board, behind the glove box. Just remove the three screws and it will drop straight down.
