Nissan 200SX Won't Start
Q. Mr. Vincent Ciulla: I have a 1988 Nissan 200SX, manual transmission. The car runs well for a time, then it quits on me after a while. When I try to start it it doesn't start, the spark plugs get wet with gasoline. The last time the car was without any use for a year, it would not start.
After that time I put in a new battery and it started. Then it ran for about three months and it quit on me again, I changed the spark plugs, the wires, and it started again. The second day it stopped, it was two days without use, I tried to start it again, it started, and when I turned it off and tried to start it again, it wouldn't start.
I need some help because I don't know what to do, I changed the O2 sensor, the Air Flow Meter, the spark plugs wires, the fuel pump works. I have no leaks on the fuel injector, and I don't want to let the car die. What can I do? Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
HipolitoA. I would suspect the Ignition Module. This was a very common problem with this engine in the both the 200SX and Stanza. The next time it won't start or dies on you, check for spark right away. If you have none then it's a pretty good bet it's the ignition module.
